YUSSUF JERUSALEM

"A Heart Full Of Sorrows" is available in Europe via Born Bad (The Magnetix, Cheveu...). It's short, tight, dark and raw. And it sounds lo-fi, pop, garage and psyche. If you like people like Rocky Erickson, Oblivians, Lee Hazlewood, Jay Reatard, Oblivians, The Kinks or even The Sangri La's, you will love Yussuf Jerusalem.

We didn't find some time to do the Partie de Chasse session. We just did the photograph. But the drummer, Fabrice, replied to our questions via e-mail. Here are his answers. We kept the 100% french version of it.

Yussuf Jerusalem played at Le Tipi in Liège on 25th of november 2010.

What album are you the most jealous of, for any reason? Where or what
city could you live/spend more time?

Fabrice :

What is your main activity but music? What website would you like to share ?

Fabrice :

Fumer des gros pillons, je pense que la réponse sera la même chez les autres hahaha

Fabrice :

Le nouveau falco, mattez bien les premiers clips c les meilleurs :

TAKKA TAKKA

Even it can looks like that, Takka Takka is not just one more indie band from the actual Brooklyn scene. These four nice guys recorded a first album "We Feel Safer At Night" in 2006 and toured with their new friends of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah to promote it. In 2008, they released "Migration" in USA. This beautiful album is produced by Sean Greenhalgh of CYHSY and features guests performances by Bryan Devendort (The National) and Lee Sargent (CYHSY). Takka Takka sounds singular : it's sophisticated but simple. Just listen the great single 'Silence" : it's epic, ethnic, tight and light. "Migration" is available in Europe since sepember 2010 thanks to Lili Is Pi. A new album is coming in 2011.

Takka Takka played at L'Escalier in Liège on 22th of november 2010.

JOE LALLY

Joe Lally is the bass player of one of the most influent band of the 90's : Fugazi. This true cult combo from Washington D.C is on hiatus since 2002 but all the members are still into music in many ways. Among a lot of collaborations (with Zu, John Frusciante...) Joe Lally released two solo albums "There To Here" and "Nothing Is Underrated", both on Dischord. Joe is living in Rome since a couple of years now. That's where he met his actual backing band formed by Elisa (guitar) and Fabio (drums). A new album will be out soon and he'll be back on tour in 2011. Check it out because the Joe Lally's bass lines are still on the rope, groovy and straight to the point as ever!

Joe Lally played at L'An Vert in Liège on 07th of november 2010.

DAAU

The long and odd sounding name "Die Anarchistische Abendunterhaltung" comes from a Herman Hess' novel : "Der Steppenwolf". But in Belgium it's more relative to a band that comes from Antwerp. The guys of DAAU are a classical music quartet with a huge taste for experimentations. They always tried new things mixing strings, cello, violin, accordion and clarinet with hip-hop, jazz, gyspy and rock. Their last album's called "The Sheperd's Dream" and it's a five tracks journey in their still romantic and singular universe!

DAAU played at Les Chiroux in Liège on 24th of October 2010.

MAGIC ARM

Behind Magic Arm, there's one man : the multi-intsrumentist Marc Rigelsford. He lives in Manchester and he's a one-man band but this time, we don't talk about rock & roll! The debut album "Make List, Do Something" sounds as catchy as experimental and as elecronica as folk... you got it? Last but not least, Iron & Wine's Samuel Beam described Rigelsford as 'the master of the loop pedal.

Magic Arm played at Le Tipi in Liège on 24th of September 2010.

THE STRANGE BOYS

The Strange Boys are based in Austin, Texas. They belong to the big family of all these children of The Kinks, Bob Dylan, Roky Erickson, the early Stones or The Troggs. They released two albums in less than two years on the still fantastic In The Red label. Their last one "Be Brave" is a collection of shinny and dirty pop-garage tunes. The Strange Boys sound like a mess but it's a beautiful mess!

The Strange Boys played at C.P.C.R in Liège on 19 of July 2010.

JACK OBLIVIAN

Jack Yarber is better known as Jack Oblivian from the legendary Oblivians and Compulsive Gamblers. Since he moved in the late 80's to Memphis, Tennessee, Jack Oblivian has never stopped recording, writing and collaborating with other local heroes. His contribution to the rock&roll scene is so huge that we couldn't list it. Between two Oblivians' reunions, he relased a few solo albums and others with the Tearjerkers. By the way, the Jack Oblivian's songwriting is raw, heartbroken and simply beautiful as a few. On this 2010 tour he played with two other Memphis great dudes - Harlan T. Bobo and John Paul Keith - as a a happy family. "No ego"!

Jack Oblivian & co. played at Le Tipi in Liège on 31th of May 2010.
